Douglas Design District
http://www.dddwichita.com/
When someone wants to update their furniture, or find a special antique, or remodel their kitchen, where should they start....on Kellogg, on , out west? In many
U.S. cities it’s very easy because they have an area in town where furniture or “home design” dealers have congregated.
Wichita really doesn’t have that type of area...or do we???
The merchants of East Douglas think we do, and we’ve joined forces to create
“The Douglas Design District”
On Douglas Avenue, from Washington east to Oliver, there are 5 furniture stores, 2 rug dealers, 3 kitchen design stores, 2 interior design stores, 2 antique stores, and dozens of specialty shops. As a group we plan to create an appeal for the area that doesn’t currently exist.
The Douglas Design District is unique and different from other merchant associations due to the synergy of home design products and services offered by the retailers.
We are working with the city on long range plans to re-vamp the entire Douglas corridor between Washington and Oliver. We plan to actively pursue, promote and revitalize the district as a destination place for consumers looking for home design products and services. Our members will work together to attract the community to the area through collective and coordinated marketing activities that include group advertising, promotions, public relations and merchandising.
As we look to the future we see an avenue of sophisticated, yet warm islands of design....three miles of trendy shops, cafes, pubs and stores. Some quaint, some funky, some cosmopolitan, but all intriguing and full of life....and all found only in “The District”.
